PostFAQ Hypnobirthing Teacher Training

I don't have a background in birth work; will this be a problem?

Not at all.  Just let me know at booking so that we can discuss your unique needs.  I keep my student numbers very low (no more that two training programmes a year) which means I have the capacity to work closely with you to ensure you get the right support to become a great Hypnobirthing Teacher.  For those that feel they need it, I can offer a 'booster' anatomy and physiology session before embarking on your training.  This can be done via Skype and is totally free.

Way of the Koi offers a uniquely personal training programme meaning that you receive a totally supportive training experience unlike any other which extends way beyond your training days.  If you feel that you might benefit from private tuition please visit the Private Classes page to learn more about this personal one-to-one training.

I am already a trained Hypnobirthing Teacher, would I benefit from this course?

Absolutely.  If you are starting this course from an advanced place you will be giving yourself the opportunity to take your practice to the next level.  Where other students are using their reflective practice sessions or mentoring for support to get started you can use them to learn how to write and record your own scripts.

What qualification will I get at the end of the course?

You will receive a Certificate in Hypnobirthing which will make you a Certified Hypnobirthing Teacher (CHbT).  This is an insurable qualification.

Who teaches the course?

The course is taught by Nicola Nelson.  Nicola is a registered Midwife (practicing for 22 years), trained Hypnotherapist and Hypnobirthing Teacher.  She is the UK's only RCM accredited Rebozo instructor.  Nicola is also trained in the use of aromatherapy for pregnancy and birth, western medical acupuncture in labour and Compassionate Mindfulness.

Nicola created the course, combining her many years of skills, knowledge and experience.  Her techniques have been tried and tested countless times with empowering results for Women and their birth partners.

How will my learning be assessed?

Following the online module you are asked to complete an exercise which involves listening to an mp3 and answering questions about it.

Following the face to face event you are given a question paper (this includes some multiple choice questions) and you are asked to complete and submit 5 Case studies.

Can I join a Professional body with this qualification?

There is no professional or governing body for Hypnobirthing Teachers.  The most important thing to look for in a training provider is that the qualification they provide is insurable. Some of the larger training organisations offer registration with an 'Association' or an 'Institute'.  These have been set up by the Training provider themselves and are not independently moderated.  They will admit only Teachers who have trained with their organisation.  Membership usually offers perks such as being able to purchase the organisations audios and books at a reduced rate. Way of the Koi is currently working with FEDANT towards accreditation which will mean Compassionate Hypnobirthing Teachers will be able to register with them in the future as an Antenatal Educator.  It is estimated that this process will have completed by summer 2018.

Will I be able to get insurance to teach this programme?

Yes.  Just contact Balens Insurance who will be happy to help you. You will need to provide them with a copy of your Compassionate Hypnobirthing Teacher Certificate as evidence of your qualification.

What support will I get after training?

Taking that first step can seem daunting but not when you know you have the full support of your mentor and the Compassionate Birth Workers group (we have an open Facebook group and a Secret Circle which you will be invited to on qualification).  You will receive one free Reflective Supervision session (in person or via skype) in the year after your training.  Further sessions can be booked at the standard hourly rate.  You will have email or phone support from your mentor Nicola Nelson so if you get asked a tricky question in your first teaching session or if you just want to bounce an idea around you can be confident of the right support.

If you do the Private Training Programme you receive six free reflective supervision sessions within your first year after training.

Do I have to pay an annual fee to remain 'registered'?

No.  You don't need to register with me to get the 'perk' of buying the audios at a reduced rate because I give them to you when you do your training.  You are free to share them unlimitedly (if that's a word?).  In the future I hope to create a Teachers directory and will probably need to ask a small admin fee to keep that maintained but registration on that would never be compulsory to remain in the fold!  Once you have joined the Tribe you're in it for as long as you want to be; for FREE!  We are a tribe, not a big organisation.

Do you have a book which goes with the course?

When you attend your training you will receive a copy of Mindful Hypnobirthing by Sophie Fletcher.  This book makes a great compliment to the course and I recommend you offer it or suggest it to your clients too.
